Hinge Creates Pre-Date Meditation Sessions With Headspace
Hinge has teamed up the popular mindfulness and meditation app Headspace to help improve the community’s mental health.
The collaboration comes ahead of World Mental Health Day on 10th October. The two platforms have worked together to create custom meditations to keep singles calm and eliminate some of their anxieties before they go on a date.
All of the mediation sessions are approximately five minutes long and are now available for free to daters all around the world.
Justin McLeod, founder and CEO of Hinge, said in a statement: “At Hinge, we know taking care of your mental health and well-being is crucial to creating a meaningful connection, and over these past few months, singles have been feeling more anxious.
“Having personally dealt with addiction and substance abuse, mental well-being is a topic I’m deeply passionate about for not only myself but our Hinge community. We want our users to be calm and relaxed when connecting with each other, so it was a no-brainer to partner with Headspace to develop the first-ever meditations for daters.”
While it is natural to feel some nerves before a first date, Hinge and Headspace want to prevent these butterflies from escalating to the point where they ruin the meeting. Apparently a third of Hinge users have previously become so worried that they’ve talked themselves out of having a good time.
Instead, the meditations are designed to quieten self-critical thoughts and amplify positive feelings.
Headspace’s Director of Meditation Eve Lewis added: “We’re so happy to work with Hinge to bring a little more mindfulness into people’s lives as we all navigate this challenging time. We hope these pre-date meditations can help bring some calm, clarity and compassion during these stressful times.”
