Match Group Hires ‘Head of Safety and Social Advocacy’ to Enhance User Protection

Match Group is continuing its commitment to increasing user safety by creating a new role at the company, the Head of Safety and Social Advocacy.

Tracey Breeden will assume the position, having previously spent more than four years at Uber as a Senior Safety Communications Manager and Head of Global Women’s Safety.

She will oversee the trust and safety policies across the online dating company’s portfolio and work closely with each brands’ product team to ensure the continued development of new safety features.

Breeden explained in a statement: “I’ve spent my entire career fighting to create safe spaces for all people so I’m excited to bring my passion for promoting safety and advocacy to Match Group and its brands.

“Corporations play an important role in sparking positive, social change but also have a responsibility to help ensure safe experiences for their users. I look forward to developing pathways to more equitable and inclusive solutions when it comes to safety across Match Group’s many communities.”

The ‘Match Group Advisory Council’ was launched in 2018 and features expert representatives who help the business protect users from issues such as sexual assault, harassment and trafficking.

The board is fronted by Tarana Burke, the founder of the ‘Me Too’ movement.

Tinder partnered with personal safety app ‘Noonlight’ at the beginning of the year to introduce a number of verification and date safety measures. This included a timeline feature to let friends and family know where they’re going on a date and a discreet panic button that immediately alerts emergency services.
