Grindr Offers Free Trials Personal Safety App UrSafe
Grindr has announced a new partnership with UrSafe, the personal safety app that gives singles extra security when they go on offline dates.
As part of the collaboration, Grindr users get a 14-day free trial to UrSafe’s range of security features. They will be prompted in-app to download the app which presents them with different methods of staying safe while meeting their matches in person.
Some of the available features include live GPS location transmissions, hands-free SOS calls and fake phone calls.
“Grindr is always looking for innovative ways to help our community further their safety on and offline. Partnering with UrSafe certainly fits that goal.”
When he assumed his new position in June, Bonforte revealed that he would be conducting a complete review of user safety and security protocols as one of the top priorities. The app has a history of alleged data breaches and has been previously accused of not doing enough to look after its members in countries where the LGBTQ community is not protected.
UrSafe’s co-founder and CEO Anthony Oyogoa added in a statement: “Whether Grindr users are located in Robertsdale, Alabama, across the globe in Pakistan or anywhere in between, we are deeply committed to empowering them with next-generation personal safety tools, so that they can feel more comfortable dating and creating meaningful connections with others.
“We’re extremely invested and very humbled to join forces with Grindr, and our partnership means that four of the top ten grossing global dating apps now provide ‘The UrSafe App,’ making it an industry standard.”
Last month, The Meet Group entered a partnership with UrSafe and offered all of its users a 60-day free trial.
