The Meet Group Offers Gift Cards With Latest Video Dating Game

The Meet Group has introduced the latest update to the NextDate and BlindDate live streaming games.

DateNight will work in a similar way to the other modes. MeetMe and Skout users will match and take part in a video date while broadcasting to an audience. However, if the couple want to set up an offline meeting they could receive a $10 gift card to a nearby venue.

The Meet Group has partnered with 18 chain restaurants in the US and is aiming to give away $15,000 worth of first dates on every day. DateNight will run every Thursday from 9pm-11pm EDT throughout the rest of July and August.

CEO Geoff Cook explained in a statement: “At the start of the pandemic, video was a replacement for real-life interaction. Now, it is a filter to screen potential dates for connection and compatibility before ever meeting in person.

“Daters no longer have the risk appetite for meeting many different people in person based on a shallow interaction like swiping. They are increasingly demanding a video chat first, to prequalify potential dates. DateNight enhances that experience with the excitement of a virtual dating game with the promise of a face-to-face first date on us.”

Following the advice of its own ‘Safer Dating Advisory Board’, The Meet Group is implementing a number of measures to make sure users are responsibly getting together in person.

FirstDate will only be available to members living in states where the new COVID-19 case rate is less than 15 per 10,000 for three consecutive days, and the gift cards can only be redeemed for outdoor seating areas or delivery options.

The Meet Group surveyed its members and found that 81% currently feel comfortable meeting in person, but 71% would prefer that both parties wear a mask.
