Tinder has a introduced a ‘selfie challenge’ to promote its new verification tool for UK users.

Singles in the region can now take a real-time selfie to prove that they are using the correct pictures. Everybody who passes the screening phase will have a blue verification tick added to their profile.

The dating app challenges users to take a series of selfies in specific poses. It then uses “human-assisted AI technology” to see if it’s the same person as in the existing photos.

Tinder hopes the ‘Selfies For Safety’ campaign will gamify the process and encourage more members to take part.

According to Gizmodo, CEO Elie Seidman explained: “Every day, millions of our members trust us to introduce them to new people, and we’re dedicated to building innovative safety features powered by best-in-class technology that meet the needs of today’s daters.

“I’m proud to share this update, which represents an important step in driving our safety work forward.”

Tinder is also in the process of globally rolling out its multiple sexual orientations option. This allows users to identify as up to three sexual orientations.
