Blued Launches Group ‘Voice Chat Rooms’ in China

Written by Luke Smith

Blued has released a group audio chat features in mainland China, allowing users to join engaging chat rooms based on their friends, language and interest.

The popular LGBTQ social app trialled the new feature in Japan and India during 2020. Further internal tests and trials were also carried out in multiple major cities across China since January this year.

Available chat rooms are classified into a whole range of topics like love, friendships, emotional stories, specific interests, and entertainment.

These multiple options are offered to better meet the diverse needs of the LGBTQ community, in terms of themes and some members’ need for anonymity.

They facilitate real-time audio conversations between multiple participants at once. Users can create their own rooms to have private conversations with existing friends or open up to find new ones.

Blued also launched a ‘Community’ feature in China last September. This works in a similar way by offering specific groups that cover a range of topics and help like-minded users engage.

In November, Blued introduced features such as photo verification in Latin America, and “Match”, a speed-dating function, across various global markets. These aim to create a more reliable environment and more efficient interactions.
